What We Do

Irving Skeele (1866-1946) was a house and barn builder in southern Onondaga County. He kept detailed diaries from 1893 to 1946. The first nine years of his diaries have been transcribed. We are digitizing them and plan to transcribe remaining years. The work is supported by CLRC.

We are documenting the history of sports in the Fabius-Pompey school system by exploring old sports photographs and the contents of school yearbooks from 1946-2023.

Collections

Pioneer Museum

The Pioneer Museum is located in Highland Forest, on Route 80, 4 miles east of the village of Fabius. The museum is open June, July, and August, on the weekends, from 1 to 4 pm. Admission is free. The museum has many items that early farmers used. There are several rooms in the building containing artifacts from Fabius. Besides farm supplies, there is a sports room, a kitchen equipment area, a parlor, and an area dedicated to the Veterans from Fabius. Contact info: Sandy Beglinger, (315) 683-5878. Your Toss Is Our Loss

With spring cleaning almost upon us, please keep in mind that the Fabius Historical Society is a great depository of valuable information and artifacts related to the Fabius area. We are interested in old obituaries and photos of Fabius residents, photos of homes and homesteads, and family genealogies from family collections or scrapbooks. If you have such items and are willing to allow us to make photographic copies of them, please contact Bill Casey at Bill5308@aol.com, (315) 810-4190.
